LOUDER, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Lebanon, hosted on International Human Rights Day the “Human Rights 75 Roundtable.”. the event was a participatory dialogue that focused on integrating and institutionalizing human rights in the work of justice and law enforcement institutions, with a special emphasis on the role of women in peace and security. The roundtable kicked off with a look at the “Rights Keepers Training Manual” for law enforcement officers, emphasizing human rights in their daily work and creating a new tool to help them keep human rights at the forefront of their work. The dialogue fostered several objectives, like promoting human rights in law enforcement, reinforcing the Women Peace and Security Agenda, fostering dialogue and shared learning, identifying challenges and opportunities, developing actionable recommendations, building networks and partnerships, and enhancing public awareness and support. Diverse attendees participated in the discussion, including judges, prosecutors, justice ministry representatives, Lebanese Army and Security Forces officers, legal experts, academics, and members of civil society. The discussion focused on women’s roles in peace and security, discussing the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, and on integrating human rights in justice and law enforcement, discussing constitutional guarantees and international obligations. The event led to several outcomes, including the launch of a new initiative focusing on human rights, peace, and security, the establishment of a coordination mechanism among judiciary, security services, and civil society, emphasis on capacity building, strengthening law enforcement practices, enhancing institutional transparency and data management, and harmonizing legislation with international standards. On November 8, 2018, LOUDER, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF), and the Geneva Institute for Human Rights (GIHR) organized panel for dialogue between security forces officers and the youth to enhance the opportunity to provide grassroots-level perspectives in higher-up discussions with policymakers. The panel creates a platform for dialogue among youth with security forces officers and enhances the opportunity to provide grassroots-level perspectives in higher-up discussions on policy and legislative deliberation. It also aims to promote key concepts and tools such as dialogue, citizenship and equal rights among people regardless of religion, gender, belief, and ethnicity
