LOUDER is actively championing the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Lebanon, emphasizing the crucial role of women in the political and decision-making realms, especially in peace and security matters. As part of the CAFI II consortium, LOUDER organized a collaborative workshop in Beirut with the participation of different international and local organizations and activists across Lebanon. LOUDER focused on the practical application of the resolution, addressing challenges, and advocating for increased representation and protection of women. Dr. Khouloud Alkhatib, executive director of LOUDER, emphasized the need the need for effective implementation of gender-based violence protection measures and the empowerment of women as peacebuilders and decision-makers. She introduced the four pillars of UNSCR 1325—prevention, protection, participation, recovery, and relief – underscores their commitment to transforming women’s roles from victims to active peace builders, reflecting a broader vision of gender equality and empowerment in Lebanon’s socio-political landscape.
